Expedited vs Regular Visa, Green Card and Citizenship Applications

The process of obtaining a visa to the United States, green card, or American citizenship entails submitting an application to USCIS, which may on its own include multiple steps, stages, and forms. When you apply for a visa, green card, or citizenship, the option of paying to have the process expedited could be optional.

This means that you pay more money, and in return, your application for a visa to the United States, green card, or American citizenship is processed faster than non-expedited visa and citizenship application. Expediting your visa or citizenship application does not improve your chances of application approval, nor does it change or decrease the extent and number of criteria you must meet to be approved.

Looking for a book to make you hap'BEE? Look no further. BEE’loved by many, the honey bee is super sweet. In this educational book for children ages 6-8 you’ll have fun learning all about the lives of honey bees. You’ll discover how long they live, what they eat, the many different roles that bees play during their life, and more! This book would be great for a classroom setting in which children are learning about insects and nature or for children at home who have an interest in bees.

An expedited visa or citizenship application can shorten the waiting time for a decision from an estimated half a year (6 months) to two weeks. Please note that a non-expedited visa or citizenship application may take more than the estimated 6 months. Thus, while an expedited visa or citizenship application will cost several times more, even if multiple visa or citizenship applications attempts are unsuccessful, within 6 months, you can get several attempts done, with feedback received in-between.

A non-expedited visa or citizenship application bears no promise as to how fast your will receive an answer, and even worse, does not include feedback as to the reason the visa or citizenship application was denied. This means that far more time has passed, and you do not know why your visa or citizenship application was denied.

The time of year is another point to take into consideration while debating an expedited vs non-expedited visa or citizenship application. Visa or citizenship applications, might have to be submitted during a certain window of time, to have improved chances of being processed, if at all. If a cap is in place for the visa or citizenship application, and it is reached, a non-expedited visa or citizenship application might cause you to miss that window.

Missing the window to having your visa or citizenship application approved may carry heavy and negative meanings to a person. You might miss a job opportunity due to the lack of a visa; You may have to restart your immigration journey the year after. Remember, visa or citizenship application windows are never promised to be continuous. Sharing my personal past decision, I always chose the expedited visa or citizenship application...always.
